NSAC MISSIONS FUNDRAISER: TREK for HOPE 2.0!

As a church, we want to combine our love for exploring God’s creation with our love for helping other people. So we're asking you to join us in the TREK for HOPE fundraiser - raising funds to support our local and global missionaries. 

The proceeds of the Trek for Hope Fundraiser will go to:

1. LAZARUS COMMUNITY HOUSE: providing local housing for marginalized members of Vancouver metro area, work resources, and spiritual care
2. PROJECT SAMUEL:  To support Kim and Brendan Vowell at Project Samuel in Zambia. Funds raised will support their educational needs to buy school supplies and help support their grads with college funds! This project is home to 25 orphaned and at risk children. The project exists to love, care, and equip the children and surrounding communities in great need.

Sharing stories and practices for sustaining rich faith in a post-Christian world

Our annual Women's Retreat is coming up on Saturday, April 30th.  It will take place in person at the church.  Constance Chan will be our guest speaker and Dayna Evanow will be leading worship.  

The retreat will start at 9:00 am with worship, teaching and workshops. The afternoon is free for you to retreat, rest, be creative OR to join in with some optional activities we have planned. The church will be open for coffee and conversation throughout the afternoon.  We will get together at 5:30 pm for a catered dinner in the Lower Auditorium and our evening session of worship and teaching will begin at 7:00 pm.

We hope that you will set aside the day to join in ~ our desire is to grow closer to God and to connect as a community.

Pysanky: Ukrainian Easter Eggs

Learning the traditional Ukrainian art of Pysanky and how we can weave prayer into art.

Join us at the church on Saturday, April 2nd at 2pm!

This fundraiser event is by donation (suggested amount: $50). Donations will go to the Alliance Global Emergency Response Fund for Ukraine Relief (read more here).

All necessary tools and materials will be supplied.

Training is coming up March 19th, 26th and April 2nd at William Griffin. Come on out for these training sessions if you are keen to join a team! The season runs from April to July on Monday and Friday nights.

The NSAC Environmental Justice Group would like to invite everyone to participate in a Community Clean Up on Saturday, March 26th from 10 am - 12 pm.  Please bring a garbage bag and wear comfortable shoes!  We will meet in the church parking lot at 10 am.

Registration for NSAC families opens for our SummerJAM and PreSummerJAM camps on March 15th!  We welcome our community families to register as of April 4th.

PreSummerJAM - July 5 to 8, 2022. For kids ages 3-5 with parent participation. 

SummerJAM - July 11 to 15, 2022. For kids entering grades 1 to entering grade 5.

VISION AND TEAM:

Since mission trips have been on hiatus since COVID, Green Bay Bible Camp is opening up a new way for youth groups to do a trip together that has mission trip elements. This opportunity will provide discipleship training through loving service!
 
Pastor Brendan is looking for 8-10 grade 10-12 students to serve with on this week long trip!

DETAILS:

• The Green Bay Summer Serve dates are July 17 - 23, 2022.
• Cost will be somewhere between $50.00 - $150.00,  but will depend primarily on how fundraising goes!

OVERVIEW:

There will be pre-trip discipleship training and a fundraiser at NSAC. Then inJuly we'll join with Green Bay's staff team and serve their summer camp day campers for the week!  We will also join with another ministry that serves the needs of downtown Kelowna's most vulnerable for an evening. There will be some really fun elements too, including some boating, beaching, and a Kelowna adventure day on Saturday!

You may notice some new signs up in our parking lot! We are loving our neighbours by sharing our parking lot with the nearby North Van Rec Centres and Centennial Theatre until mid-June.  Please feel free to continue parking in any available spot on Sunday mornings.  During the week, those with mobility issues can park in the front near the church, and we encourage others to park in row 6 or above.

We are grateful to you, and to God, for the ongoing generosity of your giving.  At the end of the 2021 calendar year, we received some unexpected financial gifts.  We will be seeking God’s direction in how to use these funds to further the ministry of North Shore Alliance both locally and globally.
