Thinking Christianly about Same-Sex Marriage

Thinking Christianly about Same-Sex Marriage

Sunday, June 6, 2021

What does the Bible teach when it comes to same-sex marriage?  Why might some Christians believe that same-sex relations are not prohibited? What might it look like for an LGBTQ Christian to live faithfully to the Scriptures?
These are some questions we will be addressing in our upcoming seminar on “Thinking Christianly about Same-Sex Marriage”.

Speakers:
Mark Peters
Mardi Dolfo-Smith

Residential Schools

Residential Schools

We, at North Shore Alliance Church, deeply grieve the news of the discovery of the remains of 215 Indigenous children at the former Kamloops residential school.

We acknowledge the atrocities the Church has caused Canada's Indigenous people and this undue harm and trauma for generations.

We stand with  Canada's Indigenous people in the further uncovering of this tremendous loss.

The Alliance in Canada, our denomination has posted the following:

JUNE 2, 2021

The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada profoundly grieves the recent revelation of the deaths of 215 indigenous children in Kamloops, B.C. Our heart goes out to their families, their home communities, and to all First Nations across Canada.

The residential school system remains a stain on Canada’s history. We acknowledge that our ancestors participated in this injustice, even through their silence and inaction. On behalf of our family of churches, I sincerely apologize for the sins of our ancestors and failure to protect these innocent children.

We acknowledge the blindness and institutionalized racism of our past and we are committed to work toward a better future. As a church, we own our sins of the past and repent of this failure—yes, even generations later—and commit to representing Jesus better now and in the future.

We pause, we remember, we search our hearts, and we promise to do better for all children. We will continue to pursue truth and reconciliation in keeping with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission calls to action.

Come, Lord Jesus.

June 4th Prayer Request

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
For his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning
great is your faithfulness

Lamentations 3:22-23

We want to be a church with a strong foundation of prayer. We want prayer to infuse all aspects of our worship and ministries - everything that we do!   Join us in this season of transition by praying for NSA.  Each week we will invite you to pray for a different need.

This week’s prayer request:

Our new Lead Pastor position has been posted.  Please pray that even now God is stirring the heart of the person he is calling to join our church; pray for our Search Committee as they discern among potential candidates; pray that we trust God’s timing in the new lead pastor hire.  Please also pray for Ebenezer Joshua who starts this week as our new Intercultural Ministries pastor!

Covid-19 Relief in South Asia

Covid-19 Relief in South Asia

India and Nepal need our help!

Did you know it only takes $21 for someone in India to get vaccinated?

As Canadians, it can be easy to feel disconnected from people on the other side of the world, especially if you’re still waiting for vaccines for you or your loved ones. It’s hard to imagine the loss, trauma, and pain that so many people are facing as COVID-19 deaths continue to rise.

It can feel hopeless, but you can make a difference.

The Alliance Canada is partnering with like-minded organizations who are on the ground and making an impact! They need funding support that will enable them to provide: food for hospitals, immediate care for infected staff, care for the community, vaccinations, counseling and mental health care programs, health and hygiene awareness programs, and food packages!

The need is great, and the opportunity to respond is now. Let’s work together to show the love of Christ in tangible ways to India, Nepal, and beyond.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
