Growing up on the North Shore I loved going to summer camp. I was at camp at least one week of the summer from the time I was 9 till my graduation at 18. Camp is a great place for kids to grow friendships, to make memories and to have fun. And it is also a great place for kids to connect with God. Several of our families have been asking about Christian camps on the lower mainland so I wanted to take some time to direct your attention to some of the options for you and your kids to take part in this summer.

Kawkawa Camp (Hope) www.kawkawa.com At Kawkawa Camp & Retreat, we offer a full range of summer camps for children starting from 7 years old, right up through adults at family camp. As of the 2012 season, we are also excited to offer Day Camps. Camp Kawkawa is sponsored in part by the Christian and Missionary Alliance Pacific District.

Keats Camp (Keats Island) http://www.keatscamps.com Some of the things you’ll enjoy at Keats are archery, skateboarding, and mountain biking, and when you get to our incredible waterfront playground you have tons of choices from canoeing and sailing to wakeboarding, tubing, or snorkeling. With all the activities, and the great island environment of Keats you’ll have a ton of fun. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about Jesus Christ, and to find out how a deepening faith can change your life. Keats offers a variety of one-week camps for kids entering Gr 3 to Gr 12.

AnvilDaybreak Point Bible Camp (Anvil Island) www.anvilisland.ca We are about introducing youth to the life and love of Jesus Christ. We do this through high-energy games, amazing meals, quality relationships, water sports and engaging chapels. We’ve been doing this for 70 years and would love the opportunity to see you or your child up for a life-changing week.  Anvil runs 9 weeks of camp for kids aged 9-19. They run several co-ed camps but also offer 2 camps Jr. boys and Jr. girls gender specific camps for kids age 9-12.

Barnabas Family Ministries (Keats Island) www.barnabasfm.org At Barnabas, Family Retreats are our specialty. Creating memories, having fun, experiencing rest and relaxation for the entire family. All the fun you expect and all the luxury you hope for. Barnabas is running 9 weeks of family retreats this summer including a single parent camp and a Father & Son camp.

These are of course just a few of the Christian camps in the area. Others you may want to look up include Timberline Ranch (Maple Ridge) www.timberlineranch.com, Camp Stillwood (near Cultus) www.stillwood.ca and Camp Qwanoes (Vancouver Island) www.qwanoes.ca. For more just google “Christian Camps in BC” and I’m sure you will find what you are looking for. I’d love to help you find the right fit for you and your families give me a call or send me an email if you’d like some help.
