Kenya Missions Team Update

Kenya Missions Team Update

Hello from Kenya!

It's tough to find words to cover all we have experienced so far - it’s been a wild ride.  Our flights went smoothly and we arrived late Sunday at the guest house in Nairobi.

Monday morning we hit the road to spend the day with Pastor Carol (one of Paul Lee’s students) who runs Garden of Hope Children’s Home.  The day featured making up food bags and distributing them to 100+ families who live in the neighbouring shantytown (7000 people live in 600 tiny plots).  When we were short on food for the number who showed up, we prayed for multiplication and a truck pulled up an hour later with an unexpected food drop off!  Later we ran a short VBS with the resident children.

Tuesday we land-cruisered north around Mt Kenya (saw giraffes, dick-dicks, and baboons on the way) and after nearly 12 hours arrived at dusk in Reteti, a remote Samburu tribe where James & Lucy are missionaries (and part of the African Pastor Network Paul works with).

Wednesday was unforgettable!  From early morning prayer to the late-night showing of the Jesus Film in the Samburu language, what a day!  Alongside Paul’s students and staff and congregants from a church in Nairobi, we ran a full VBS with 200+ school kids.  It was so cool to see the kids engage in our crafts, games, and Bible lessons on Jonah & Jesus.  After visiting the school and seeing the new desks and chairs bought with the help of the funds we raised, we enjoyed a huge community lunch that included fresh goat, a local delicacy, and visits to the homes of many of the tribespeople (known for their herding of livestock - including camels!). Our hearts are incredibly full as God has been showing His presence powerfully!

Today was another massive travel day as we left the tribe (encountering 3 large elephants and 2 ostriches along the road) and made our way back to the city by dinner time.

Please pray:
1) Thank God for health and safety and many incredible experiences these first few days.
2) For wisdom, strength, and God to guide as we lead a retreat the next two days with Paul’s pastoral students.
3) Please pray for rest and rejuvenation from God for team members as we’ve been through a lot in a short time.

Your support means so much to us and the mission of Jesus in our world!

With Love,
- NSAC Kenya 2025 Missions Team
