The Sanctuary Course

The Sanctuary Course

Thursday, January 12, 2023

Would you like to learn more about mental health? Would you value connecting with others? Sign up for The Sanctuary Course and explore a topic that is more relevant than ever.

Thursdays, January 12 to March 2
7:00-8:30pm at the church
Facilitated by Debbie Pearmain and Sarah Dewar

---

About the course:
The Sanctuary Course is an eight-part course for small groups designed to raise awareness and start conversations in local churches regarding mental health. It offers communities a base of shared knowledge and the opportunity to discover a common language for talking about mental health.

Topics covered include: mental health and mental illness, stigma, the recovery journey, companionship, self-care, and the role of community. Each theme is covered from a psychological, social, and theological angle, and each session includes a short film that tells the story of a person of faith with mental health challenges.

There is no homework, but it’s recommended that you read the short sessions in the course book before each group gathering.

Because there is limited space, please only sign up if you are available to attend a minimum of 6 out of the 8 sessions.

Cost: $10 for printed course book  (or download the PDF for free)

Volunteers Needed for Operation Christmas Child

Volunteers Needed for Operation Christmas Child

We are looking to fill two volunteers roles:
- NSAC OCC Volunteer Coordinator
- North Shore Drop-Off Location Lead

NSAC OCC VOLUNTEER CO-ORDINATOR
IMPORTANT THAT THIS ROLE BE FILLED

The bulk of the work for this role is 6-weeks from mid-October to end of November. However, in June, the co-ordinator will need to place an online order for the required number of shoeboxes for NSAC. This role is well suited for a small group, and within that small group, a capable couple to give oversight to the ministry and the volunteer activities.

NORTH SHORE DROP-OFF LOCATION LEAD
DESIRABLE THAT THIS ROLE BE FILLED

For the last twenty years, NSAC has also been the drop-off location for the North Shore. Although Michiel has been the lead for both roles, it does not have to be the same person who fulfills both roles. NSAC is well recognised as the drop-off location and should we no longer fulfil this role, NSAC will still no doubt receive shoeboxes from other churches for a while yet. It would be wonderful if we could continue to provide this service to the North Shore.

For further details about these roles, please see the PDF below.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Pastor Dave at daves@nsac.bc.ca
